Well the hand picked team came up short. 248 points was good for sixth place, 11 points out of first. But I'll dwell on that later when I throw up part two of "Fun With Computers".
I entered two other contests. In addition to the heads up match I posted below, with about five minutes to tipoff I jumped into another 10 player multi. It was time to for another "first" - I decided to see what would happen if I went with a short roster. The first time through I had only 7 guys, but since I didn't know if that would be DQ'd, I chickened out and split one guard into two scrubby shooting guards. I was a PG short of full. 8 players.
What do you know, it worked. This time. Good for 2nd place.
Three other entrants also went with short rosters (why do I keep wanting to refer to it as "shortstacking"? Too much poker?). It didn't work out so well for them, as they all missed the money.
I don't think I'm likely to employ the short roster as a regular feature, but it was amusing to try it. With the availability of $1 contests at Fantasy Sports Live, you can do stupid stuff like that if you want without breaking your roll.
Thursday results: 3 contests entered (2 - 10 player, 1 HU); 2 cashes (1, 1); amount risked: $5.40; amount won: $9.00; net $3.60; ROI +66.7%
