Medic

One of these days there is going to be a breakthrough. I'm so very close to having a monster day - it seems to be one little thing each time that's killing my results. Yesterday was Kevin Durant going down in the first quarter with an ankle. Out for the game. As a result, I lost my heads up contests to guys who didn't pick Durant by 1 point and 4 points. Was close in the multis too.

Don't mind me. Just venting. And no, I'm not paying you a dollar for the bad beat story.

Friday results: 6 contests entered (3 - 10 player, 1 - 6 player, 2 HU); 1 cash (0, 1, 0); amount risked: $15.30; amount won: $10.00; net: ($5.30); ROI -34.6%

I watched the Phoenix-Toronto game and bits and pieces of some others. It was a blast from the past watching Shaq just absolutely destroy the Raptors. They could not stop him. Bosh, Bargniani and Voskuhl all picked up five fouls on hacks and Shaq still shot about 95% from the field.

The end of the New Orleans-Milwaukee game was pretty intense too. NO had it on cruise control, up about 20 points with three or four minutes left when the Bucks when nuts. Ridnour and Charlie Bell drained a whole bunch of threes, coming all the way back to lead by one. NO wins with a tip in at the buzzer.

Edit: Oh, and I lost my contest at DraftBug as well. Durant again.

Two Game Lottery

Playing when there are only two games on the schedule is just pointless.

Thursday results: 2 contests entered (10 player); 0 cashes; amount risked: $2.00; amount won: $0.00; net: ($2.00); ROI: -100.0%

Also, note that the cutoff for this weekend's NASCAR contests is tonight at 6:40 ET.

DraftBug Trip Report

As an avid player of daily fantasy sports contests, I'm always on the lookout for new places to play. A while back I was contacted by Alex from DraftBug.com, asking if I would check out his site. So I did.

Draftbug is a new site and is apparently part of a network of sites - "skins" in poker lingo. The idea is to have a common set of contests with multiple partners out there promoting their own front ends. This isn't a new idea but it is something different in daily fantasy sports - Fantasy Sports Live, Snapdraft and the other active sites I'm familiar with all run closed proprietary sites.

Getting an account set up is a snap, nothing different that any other site you may have joined.

When I signed up, I was given 4000 frequent player points, which can be used just like cash to enter selected contests. 1000 points = $1, so I used 1000 to enter a $1 or points heads up basketball contest. Play money contests are also available if you're into that sort of thing. Scoring, for basketball contests, is the same that's used at FSL.

There aren't a ton of contests available yet - I have to assume they're just getting going on building traffic:

Each contest has a point cap and each player has a point value. In an neat twist, different contests have different roster sizes. You might pick 5 players with a 750 point cap, or pick a whole bunch of players with a 1400 point cap.

The selection process is pretty much a no-brainer and is very user friendly. I didn't take any screenshots, but really, it's straightforward.

I won my first contest the other night and I'm signed up for another one tomorrow. I'll probably play a few more while my bankroll lasts. I may even deposit if I get on a roll - one thing I noticed is that while the front page says you can deposit by Paypal, I couldn't figure out how to do it. Credit card, no problem, but I couldn't figure out Paypal which is what I use.

In short, my take on the things that matter most to me:

1. Ease of use: Very good.

2. Easy, fast cash in and cash out: Incomplete. Paypal nit noted above & I haven't tried cashing out yet obviously.

3. Rake: Good. The rake is actually lower than FSL in one category - the $3.30 heads up pays $6, the same as the $3.40 heads up contests on FSL. Otherwise, it's no worse than Snapdraft.

4. Game selection: TBD. Too soon to tell - building a user base is what will make or break this site.

If you're looking for another place to play, you might want to give DraftBug a try.

NOTE: If you click one of my links, please note that you'll be coded as coming from my site. Assuming that I continue to like the site, I'll be acting as an affiliate and encouraging new signups.

One Win

One win was not enough to salvage a positive day. A narrow loss in a heads up contest sealed another loser. Basketball is a funny game.

Wednesday results: 4 contests entered (3 - 10 player, 0 - 6 player, 1 HU); 1 cash (1, 0, 0); amount risked: $8.80; amount won: $5.00; net: ($3.80); ROI -43.2%

Only two games on the schedule tonight (I think), which means light play for me.

***

NASCAR contests are up for this weekend's Shelby 427 at Las Vegas.

I'm still resolved to not pick Mark Martin.

Knee'd

I learned that Tim Duncan was out about half an hour after the games started. No Duncan = holes in lineup = no chance. Finished 9th and 10th - there were other issues as well. Ugh.

Tuesday results: 2 contests entered (2 - 10 player); 0 cashes; amount risked: $2.00; amount won: $0.00; net: ($2.00); ROI -100.0%

Basketball Above All

A good day. Close to a very good day. If I'd taken Nate Robinson in all my contests instead of only most of them, it could have been a clean sweep. Lost two very winnable headsup matches, including one to etoppsfan. I guess I shouldn't have taken that backup Clippers center. Oops. It was nice to win the six player multi - I wanted to enter more multis yesterday, but there weren't any available other than a $22 six player contest.

Monday results: 8 contests entered (3 - 10 player, 1 - 6 player, 4 HU); 5 cashes (2, 1, 2); amount risked: $24.20; amount won: $36.00; net: +$11.80; ROI +48.8%

I was able to watch most of the Knicks-Pacers game, which was sloppy all around. I didn't know that TJ Ford and Marquis Daniels had the flu, but lucky for me Daniels was able to play through it and I didn't have Ford. I also ended up watching most of the Jazz-Hawks game (stupid insomnia). The Jazz are tough at home, the Hawks looked horrible. Mike Bibby may have the slowest feet of any starting guard in the NBA.

***

On a semi-related subject, Schaubs asked in comments whether I'd tried Draftbug yet. I hadn't, but got on the ball yesterday and signed up (although I see that I screwed that up. Oops). I'll probably write up a trip report and some thoughts tonight, but I'll mention that I won my contest against kaiseroll13.

NASCAR Is Rigged

Note to self: STOP picking Mark Martin.

I've developed a real talent for finishing fourth in ten player contests. That of course will get you nothing. And we won't mention the last place finish in my other NASCAR contest.

Sunday results (NASCAR): 2 contests entered (10 player); 0 cashes; amount risked: $2.00; amount won: $0.00; net: ($2.00); ROI -100.0%

Have I mentioned the thing about finishing fourth? I managed to do it again in basketball - this time by two points, thanks a bunch Allen Iverson - costing me a nicely profitable day.

Sunday results (basketball): 3 contests entered (2 - 10 player, 1 HU); 1 cash (HU); amount risked: $7.80; amount won: $6.00; net: ($1.80); ROI -23.1%

I'm in five contests so far today - depending on when I get home this may end up being my busiest basketball day so far. I've been watching a ton of games lately, so I'm up to speed on who's who and what's what. The FSL results haven't been great, but that's at least partially due to the way that basketball contests are scored and also part due to the fact that there are several tough regulars who play a lot more NBA contests than I do. The one thing that I haven't been doing that I really need to do is to be more disciplined in my picks - when entering dollar contests, I tend to wing it.

Tidal Wave?

This is turning into nothing more than an avalanche of results posts. Time to get on the ball.

Speaking of results, a basically break even day yesterday. Middle of the pack in both multis. I didn't have enough Woyas or Thundererers. What a crazy game that was. I know that OKC has a reputation for not being good at defense, but Golden State could not miss no matter what. It doesn't matter that you're getting killed on the glass when you shoot better than 56%.

Saturday results: 3 contests entered (2 - 10 player, 0 - 6 player, 1 HU); 1 cash (0, 0, 1); amount risked: $5.40; amount won: $6.00; net: +$0.60; ROI: +11.1%

I didn't play as much as planned yesterday, given the small number of games on the schedule. We'll see about today.

Dollar Up

Finally put together a (slightly) winning night. Basketball is frustrating. The ROI would have been a lot better if I'd stayed away from the temptation to enter a heads up later-start contest.

Friday results: 3 contests entered (2 - 10 player, 0 - 6 player, 1 HU); 2 cashes (2, 0, 0); amount risked: $5.40; amount won: $7.00; net: +$1.60; ROI: +29.6%

It's snowing like crazy at the moment, so I may spend a little time today entering some more NASCAR contests as well as basketball contests.

Ugly Ball

Well that wasn't good. Dead last in my contest last night and I subjected myself to both the Spurs-Pistons game and about half of the Jazz-Celtics game. The Pistons had no functional offense other than Iverson running around and chucking up shots - I always forget what a lousy shooter he is. The Spurs were pretty terrible. The Jazz shot 19% in the first quarter. Yuck yuck yuck.

Thursday results: 1 contest entered (10 player); 0 cashes; amount risked: $1.00; amount won: $0.00; net: ($1.00); ROI -100.0%

User Tips: Watch For Fresh Contest Batches

(part of a series where I offer random tips to improve your Fantasy Sports Live experience)

It's easy when you're a regular player at Fantasy Sports Live to get into the habit of thinking "oh, it's 7:00, the games have started, it's too late to enter any contests." Before you do, stop.

On busy nights, there may be contests available with different start times. Last night, for example, there were the usual 7:00 ET NBA contests covering all the games, but in addition there was a batch of contests featuring the 8:00 ET and later starts and yet another batch with the 10:00 ET and later games - perfect for you folks on the left coast. Three different "batches" of contests. This sort of thing also happens during football season, when you'll find "Late Games" contests which start around 4:15 ET. Hockey too from the looks of it.

Another time to watch for fresh batches of contests is on holidays and weekends where there might be one early game - probably on TV - during the day and then more games at night. There are frequently later-starting contests on those days.

The bottom line: Don't just assume that there are no contests available and you're too late if the games have started, log on and have a look you might just be surprised!

Kevin Love Love

The game of the night last night was Minnesota-Miami. It was a close game all the way. I'd stayed away from picking T'Wolves since I had the idea that Miami was a pretty good defensive team. There weren't many signs of that actually being the case, though. And they sure couldn't rebound.

The only other takeaway: Kevin Love is wider than I remember him being in college. This is not a bad thing and no wonder he's such a force on the glass.

As for FSL, another frustrating night. Two bubbles (first slot out of the cash) in four contests, needed five more points in each. I did win a 6 player contest on the late games, so it wasn't a complete wipeout, but still another down day.

Wednesday results: 4 contests entered (2 - 10 player, 2 - 6 player); 1 cash (0, 1); amount risked: $8.50; amount won: $4.00; net: ($4.50); ROI -52.9%

There are only two games on the NBA schedule tonight, so no serious play. I'll be in at least one $1 contest for kicks, but otherwise will be taking the day off.

Tony Parker, Bricklayer - Coming This Fall to ABC

I watched the Knicks-Spurs game last night. I loaded up my rosters with Tim Duncan and Tony Parker given that (1) Ginobli was out and (2) the Kincks aren't exactly known for defense.

Ugh. Duncan was okay - he was quiet most of the game but asserted himself in the fourth quarter. For a guy with a reputation as a mediocre defender, I thought David Lee played him well.

The rest of the Spurs offense was painful to watch. Parker in particular. He hit a couple shots in the first quarter and then clanged shot after shot after shot off the front iron. 5 for 20 shooting. Nice going, Tony, I'm not picking you for a while. Unless you're up against some team with lead footed guards at least.

Otherwise, the evening was kind of a clunker. I took a flyer in a couple contests on Mareese Speights, who'd played very well lately. He got 2 minutes and put up a big fat zero. I had Okur in a contest, another zero. Oops. Still, if I hadn't bubbled the 6 player, I would have had a profitable night.

Tuesday results: 4 contests entered (2 - 10 player, 1 - 6 player, 1 HU); 1 cash (HU); amount risked: $10.90; amount won: $6.00; net: ($4.90); ROI -45.0%

Monday results: DNP, bankroll given presidential pardon for the day

More Fantasy NASCAR Contests Are Up

It looks like this weekend's racing contests have been posted at Fantasy Sports Live.

There are two flavors to choose from - the first is titled "Auto Club 500", which covers qualifying and the race, the other is "California Races" which covers the Nationwide race (Statler Brothers 300) and the AC500. The usual assortment of heads up and multi-player contests with buy ins from $1 to $100+ are available.

I'm in one contest for each so far. Good luck with your picks.

Racing Racing Racing

Query: If you won a lot playing fantasy NASCAR last weekend, are you referring to it as DaytOWNa?

Purely a hypothetical question in my case. I had mediocre selections and broke even.

Sunday results: 2 contests entered (NASCAR); 1 cash; amount risked: $2.00; amount won: $2.00; net: $0.00; ROI 0.0%

Saturday results: DNP, mesmerized by NBA skills competition

Friday results: DNP, entranced by prospect of NBA skills competition

[Semi O/T] Moneyball NBA-Style

If you have some time to kill and are looking for an interesting read, check out this story in the NY Times by Michael Lewis (of Moneyball fame) on Shane Battier and the application of statistical analysis to the NBA.

Buried somewhere toward the end are a few numbers which explain, I think, in part why betting on NBA games and playing fantasy NBA contests can be so frustrating.

Passed On The Last Lap

Ouch. Bubbled in both my NASCAR contests that went final after Daytona qualifying yesterday. 4th in the 10 player, 3rd in the 6 player. Nuts.

Thursday results (NASCAR): 2 contests entered (1 - 10 player, 1 - 6 player); 0 cashes; amount risked: $2.00; amount won: $0.00; net ($2.00); ROI (100.0%)

Also continued the basketball losing streak. Didn't risk anything with the 3 game schedule, though. Time for the All Star break and no basketball contests until Tuesday.

Thursday results (basketball): 1 contest entered (10 player); 0 cashes; amount risked: $1.00; amount won: $0.00; net ($1.00); ROI (100.0%)

It's been nice to see some new contestants, especially in the NASCAR games.

Break Time

Only three games on tap tonight, followed by the All Star break. After watching a lot of basketball the last couple nights, I'm ready for a break myself.

Middle of the pack finishes yesterday. I jumped into the 6 player very late, thinking it might not fill up. It did, and with a bunch of names from the top of the FSL leader board. Tough competition.

Wednesday results: 2 contests entered (1 - 10 player, 1 - 6 player); 0 cashes; amount risked: $6.50; amount won: $0.00; net: ($6.50); ROI (100.0%)

Wednesday, February 11, 2009

Not Cavalier

Ugh. Best finish last night was 8th. Too many players in the Indy-Cleveland game and only LeBron put up decent numbers.

Tuesday results: 3 contests entered (3 - 10 player); 0 cashes; amount risked: $3.00; amount won: $0.00; net: ($3.00); ROI (100.0%)

How To Play Daily Fantasy NASCAR Contests

Looking to cash in on your NASCAR knowledge? Fantasy Sports Live just might be the right place for you to do just that.

Here's how, in just a few easy steps:

Step 1. To get started, you need an account at Fantasy Sports Live. You can sign up by going to the site and hitting the "open an account" button. You'll be asked for your name, address, email address, a nickname to be used on the site, and a couple other easy questions. If you decide to fund your account - which you can do with Paypal or a credit card - be sure to fill in the "bonus code" box (may I humbly suggest bonus code BONDS) in order to get the best signup bonus available. Free money, which you can use to check the site out.

Step 2. Once you have an account, it's time to check out the available contests. On the main page of Fantasy Sports Live, you'll see a Contest Lobby with a list of all contests. Forget that, we're talking NASCAR.

To filter out basketball and hockey, click on the "RACING" tab at the top:

That should give you a list of JUST the NASCAR contests.

Step 3. Next, decide what you're interested in playing. As you can see, you can choose from heads up, 6 player and 10 player contests, at stakes ranging from $1 to $107:

(If you want more information on how the contests are scored, click the "RULES" tab near the top of the page).

(Also, if you want to play something that's not offered, I'd suggest emailing support).

Step 4. Okay, you've made your decision as to what you want to play. Click on the underlined contest name (or the view button) for the contest of your choice to open the "Contest Details" lobby. As you can see, I'm being bold and playing a $1 contest with 10 players. You can also see that prizes are $5 for first, $3 for second and $2 for third, that there is a "ranking cap" of 1000 points, and that the Nationwide Camping World 300 and the Daytona 500 are the races involved.

In order to sign up for the contest, I just had to check the two "I agree" boxes and click on the "REGISTER" button, which gets me to ...

Step 5. Now it's time to select my lineup. I have to pick up to 4 drivers in the Nationwide race and 5 from Daytona using my 1000 points. Each driver has a point value, based on his historical performance.

You can see I have already made a selection of Carl Edwards in the Nationwide. All I did was click the button next to his name on the player list. You can move back and forth between the 2 races by clicking the underlined title, and if you need to remove a guy you've selected, just click the red "X" next to his name to open up the slot.

Step 6. Once you've made your selections, you can name your team if you wish, then hit the "Play" button. I'm not giving you a screen cap here because you don't need to know my super secret NASCAR strategery (lol). You'll go back to the Contest Details lobby. You're playing!

If you get buyer's remorse and want to change your lineup, from the Contest Details lobby just click on one of your picks to re-open the team selection process.

So there you have it - playing daily Fantasy NASCAR contests as Fantasy Sports Live is super easy, fun and (if you know your stuff) profitable. Check it out this season!

[Mostly O/T] Pirate TV Nerd Networks?

While doing mostly nothing last evening, I found myself pondering some unanswerable questions. First, why is it that technology allows me to watch Chinese TV in acceptable quality and yet I can't even get a signal from my local CBS or NBC affiliates? Second, how on earth do you read a scroll of Chinese-language characters? I would think that trying to do so would make your head hurt.

One of the other questions I was pondering was just how many private pirated TV networks are out there. I personally don't know of any, but I would think that there must be some. Organize a group of people around a common interest, say sports or movies. Let's say, since it's basketball season, the NBA. You'd need the local feeds from each NBA market, plus ESPN and NBA TV. Figure around 30 sources. You set up shop in China or some other country that has little respect for intellectual property and stream the feeds. If your local feed suppliers are fans and would otherwise subscribe, your costs there could be very low. The question is how many subscribers you could get while still keeping your site below the radar. I would think that it would be enough - worldwide - that you could make a decent little profit. So I bet there are already networks out there.

This is all conjecture, of course, and I don't condone that sort of thing. Besides, my internet connection is barely stable enough to use espn.com's NBA scoreboard.

On to the results. I managed to win my contest last night, avoiding lousy performances by Steve Nash and Al Thornton as well as David West's suspension. Good times.

Monday results: 1 contest entered (1 - 10 player); 1 cash; amount risked: $1.00; amount won: $5.00; net: $4.00; ROI: +400.0%

Yeah, that will look good on the monthly ROI chart.

[Semi-O/T] NBA Injury Wave

I just surfed over to espn.com and saw this:

MINNEAPOLIS -- All the progress the Minnesota Timberwolves have made in the new year came to a crashing halt Monday.

Star center Al Jefferson, the cornerstone of the franchise's rebuilding plan who has emerged as one of the best post players in the league, will miss the rest of the season with a torn ACL in his right knee.

Argh. His stellar fantasy production aside, Jefferson is one of my favorite players.

Also on the NBA page: "Sasha Pavlovic may miss 6 weeks" ... "Jason Terry out with broken bone in hand". Injuries, injuries and more injuries.

You'd almost think they were playing football.

Anyway, light schedule tonight with only 4 games. Lots of Fantasy Sports Live roster overlap. I'm in one $1 contest as has been the norm of late. Since I don't feel much like doing anything, I may just settle in and watch some hoops.

And Another

Bud Shootout/Daytona Qualification NASCAR contests haven't gone final yet, so just some basketball results. You'll note that I haven't been playing in volume - since I haven't had time lately to pay enough attention to really be comfortable, I've just been playing a cheap multi or two to keep in the game.

Sunday results: 2 contests entered (1 - 10 player, 1 - 6 player); 1 cash (0, 1); amount risked: $2.00; amount won: $4.00; net: $2.00; ROI +100.0%

I might have a chance in one of the NASCAR contests I'm in, but probably not. We'll see. More NASCAR stuff later.

Sunday, February 8, 2009

Some Results, I Guess

Quick results post so I stay on top of it.

Saturday results: 2 contests entered (2 - 10 player); 2 cashes; amount risked: $2.00; amount won: $7.00; net: $5.00; ROI: +250.0%

Got a zero from Mike Bibby in one contest. Oops.

Also in two Bud Shootout NASCAR contests, which will count as Sunday results, since they don't end until tomorrow. Early results are meh - had big negatives from two guys so I'm middle of the pack.

Friday results: 1 contest entered (10 player); 0 cashes; amount risked: $1.00; amount won: $0.00; net: ($1.00); ROI: -100.0%

Had two dud point guards. If one of them has a decent game, I cash.

Fantasy NASCAR Is Back

One of the unique offerings of Fantasy Sports Live is daily NASCAR contests.

I did some nosing around the web and found a bunch of season-long fantasy NASCAR stuff, but nothing like what FSL is offering. Snapdraft doesn't offer NASCAR and none of the other couple of daily sites that I checked do either.

This weekend has two contests on tap - one relating to the Bud Shootout and one relating to Daytona. In each case you pick a lineup based on performance at qualifying and a second lineup based on performance in the race itself. You can choose a point cap contest or you can go uncapped and pick all stars. Check the Fantasy Sports Live site (Rules tab) for detail on how the contests are scored.

Both heads up and multi-player contests are available, with buy ins ranging from $1 to $107. As of right now, there are only a couple contests filled. Traffic is likely to pick up some heading into the weekend and as the season goes along and race fans discover this quick and easy way to win cash from their knowledge of NASCAR.

I don't know all that much, so if you find me in a contest, you can assume that I'm donating. I'm in a dollar multi for the Bud Shootout and will probably enter one for Daytona as well. It'll give me a reason to pay attention as to who wins.

Anything You Can Do

Update for more results...

Thursday results: 1 contest entered (10 player); 0 cashes; amount risked: $1.00; amount won: $0.00; net: ($1.00); ROI (100.0%)

Nice game by Lebron. No, he didn't break Kobe's Madison Square Garden "record", but a triple double with 50+ points isn't too shabby.

Light schedule tonight with only 3 games. With all the guys sitting out due to injury or the flu, I suspect that a night off is exactly what's needed. I'm hoping that by the weekend I'll have some time to get back up to speed and in some more contests.

Wednesday results: 2 contests entered (2 - 10 player); 1 cash; amount risked: $2.00; amount won: $3.00; net: $1.00; ROI: +50.0%

Tuesday, February 3, 2009

Bump

Edit: Re-bump to add more results. Unusual contest yesterday - 9 out of 10 people had at least 1 zero as a bunch of guys sat due to the flu or because of Gregg Popovich. Ended up tied for third. Thanks, Gregg.

Tuesday results: 1 contest entered (10 player); 1 cash; amount risked: $1.00; amount won: $1.00; net: $0.00; ROI +0.0%

Too busy at the moment to focus. Threw up a couple dollar plays - the lack of attention showed, as I missed a key injury yesterday. Oops. Giving it another shot today - again on zero research and just about zero thought - since I had to log in to check results.

Monday results: 2 contests entered (2 - 10 player); 0 cashes; amount risked: $2.00; amount won: $0.00; net: ($2.00); ROI -100%

Sunday results: 1 contest entered (1 - 10 player); 0 cashes; amount risked: $1.00; amount won: $0.00; net: ($1.00); ROI -100%

A January To Forget?

Month end wrap up time.

After a stellar December that saw no losing days and a +28.3% ROI, January was not so good. Actually, if you break it down football continued to be a winner with a +50.9% ROI in limited play. It's basketball that's not holding up its end of the bargain with a -11.6% ROI after yesterday's debacle. Overall the net result was -6.8%.

Actually, it's almost amazing that the basketball ROI was that "good". I opened the month with 7 consecutive losing days, had 1 winner, and followed it up with 5 more losers in a row. 12/13 losers. Yikes. Somewhere near the end of that string I figured out what I should be playing and results improved with four winners in a row before yesterday (when, to be honest, I deviated from playing what I should somewhat). I think I can be a modest winner if I stick to playing what I should.

Charts?

Charts. First up is the only one that really matters - cumulative winnings for the month.:

As it turns out, if I had wanted to, I could have played a single contest yesterday and if I'd won, I could have claimed a positive month in all sports. If I'd lost, I still could have claimed a positive month overall.

But that would be retarded. The goal is the maximize return, not post winning months. I thought - wrongly as it turned out - that I had good rosters yesterday, so I pressed. I regret nothing.

Moving along, we have daily win/loss, which doesn't really mean anything but does show what a clunker yesterday was:

And the also meaningless daily ROI chart:

So that was January. The real winner in January was the rake - even though I play at happy meal stakes, the amount I paid in rake was enough to swing me from an insignificant win (+2.7%) to the loss of 6.8%.

February is likely to feature continued basketball play, but with a renewed effort to focus on the contests where I have positive results to date. I'll probably still play the dollar multis - even though they're a leak - simply for entertainment value.

Hockey is still an option but not one I'm ready to charge into. More likely is NASCAR, which starts up shortly, I think, since I've started seeing the odd commercial for Daytona.

Washout

The last few days nearly brought me even for the month on basketball. I elected to roll the dice and ramp up my play yesterday for a shot at being a winner.

Fail.

Serious fail. Worst basketball day so far. Bynum's injury hurt, as I had him in every contest. Otherwise, I will have to go back and see where things went wrong.

Saturday results: 9 contests entered (3 - 10 player, 1 - 6 player, 5 HU); 1 cash (0, 0, 1); amount risked: $25.50; amount won: $6.00; net: ($19.50); ROI: (76.5%)

I'm only in one contest today with the 12:00 start. I think I'll throw up a January results post and then head out to start the Super Bowl festivities. I almost think I enjoy the Super Bowl more when I don't give a rip who wins.
